About me
Lorraine Brown, Trauma Informed Counselling in Lanarkshire
A warm welcome and thank you for visiting my website. Finding a counsellor that you can really connect with can make a huge difference to how you feel.
I am a trauma-informed, integrative counsellor specialising in working with adults and young people aged 16+ who have experienced trauma, mostly in childhood.
You might feel triggered by sights, sounds or even smells, and yet not know where these triggers come from.
The inspiration you seek is already within you.
Be silent and listen.
You might be experiencing nightmares and flashbacks that frighten you, disturb your sleep and leave you feeling exhausted.
Or you might be avoiding going out because you don't feel safe.
Sometimes you might just want to shut yourself away.
If that sounds like you, and you are struggling to cope, then do get in touch with me.
FREE Introductory Chat
I offer a FREE introductory 15-20 minute chat, either online or by phone, so that you can learn a bit more about me and my approach. You can ask questions to help you decide whether I am the right therapist for you.

What to expect from counselling
It's normal to feel nervous about seeking counselling for the first time. However, rest assured that taking that first step in coming to therapy allows you to talk about the issues that you are struggling with in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space. This will help you to make sense of things and work towards the changes you would like to make in your life.
Counselling offers a unique opportunity for you to be deeply heard, understood and validated in times of difficulty. This may involve slowing down to notice what is going on for you in that moment, which may be distressing or confusing. At other times it may mean gently challenging your thoughts or experimenting with new ways of being and relating in the world.
My offer to you
- A safe, confidential space where you can explore your difficulties openly.
- A professional and genuine relationship to facilitate reflection, self-awareness and growth.
- Flexibility and focus to help you find ways to improve your confidence, well-being and sense of calm.
I will work alongside you at your own pace, supporting you to draw on your strengths and resources, helping you to feel more connected to your life in a meaningful way.
We will work together to help you understand and manage whatever is difficult for you. As you deepen your understanding, you will become more aware of yourself, creating opportunities for greater well-being.
The counselling relationship will help you to find your path of wellness and recovery. My role is to guide you on this path of healing as you move towards a life of meaning and fulfilment.
